Matcha is a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves, and only its stems are removed during processing. It has 137 times more antioxidants than regular green tea and it’s a great natural detoxifier. Researchers also believe it helps calm the mind and body and boost mood.
How is matcha used?
This antioxidant super powder is used in variety ways around the world; most traditionally, brewed on its own as an everyday tea. Some also enjoy adding it to warm milk with a spoon of honey. I find it has a warming yet distinct taste and prefer adding it in smoothies but hey that just me! I’ve also seen it used in cool recipes, from frostings to pound cakes, the options are endless.

Matcha Almond Boost Smoothie Recipe
- 1 1/2 cup organic unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 cup raw whole almonds
- 1 small ripe banana
- 1-2 teaspoons high grade Canadian maple syrup
- 1 tsp organic matcha powder
- 1/4 tsp organic ground cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
- Blend all ingredients on high for one minute and enjoy!
