Tropical Moringa Smoothie

It’s been so long since I’ve made a tasty smoothie! Well… two weeks, but it feels like forever! If you’ve followed me on social media for a while, you know how obsessed I am with smoothie making, so two weeks without a smoothie definitely feels odd and empty.

There’s no better time than the present to take out that blender and get smoothie making again; not only because it’s fun blending up all those tasty ingredients but because there are also so many nutrients it adds to your day too.

Most recently, I was gifted a package of organic moringa powder by a local Ontario self-made company called ESME + SITA. Upon meeting the Founder and Creator of ESME + SITA, I was instantly impressed by the love and care that went into their moringa powder product. From cultivation of the moringa to the creation of the powder, I was amazed at the efforts and quality a passionate entrepreneur could produce –a true inspiration for a fellow health food nut like myself.

I had heard about how healthy moringa powder was, in particular its supportive detoxification and anti-inflammatory properties, but I hadn’t quite dug into learning about all its health benefits. The Alternative Food Network shared a helpful and informative post describing moringa and its nutritional and medicinal health properties. I was intrigued by all the ingredient had to offer and was eeger to start incorporating it into my smoothie making.

From what I had read and heard, I understood the flavour to be bitter, but I was confident my smoothie making skills would find a way to mask any bitterness. I took it back to the basics and focussed on texture, fiber, fat, and flavour. The vibrant green colour of the moringa powder also inspired me to give it a tropical twist -can’t go wrong with all those yummy tropical flavours! A few little adjustments here and there and my Tropical Moringa Smoothie recipe was ready to share!

Tropical Moringa Smoothie

A tasty and refreshing smoothie that will knock your taste buds!

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • ½ frozen banana
  • 1 cup organic coconut or almond milk beverage
  • ¼ cup organic full fat coconut milk from the can
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 ½ tsp organic moringa powder
  • 1 tsp coconut nectar optional but recommend


  • Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes. Serve and enjoy!


• It’s important that at least one of the fruits listed is frozen (pineapple or banana).
• If freezing your own banana, ensure it’s ripe prior to freezing.
• If you’re new to moringa powder, a 1 tsp serving per serving maximum is a place to start. The flavour is bitter and may seem strong if you add more and you’ve never tried it before. I found 1 ½ tsp for two medium smoothie servings a good portion for me but it’s really up to your taste buds!
• If you do not have full fat coconut milk, add an additional ¼ cup of coconut or almond milk beverage.
